Covid-19 Monitoring

Covid-19 Monitoring

For more than one year we have been fighting against an invisible enemy: COVID-19. Day by day science makes further progress on the virus investigation. The vaccination campaign started and we have reliable tests to identify and contain the spread of the virus. Mater Dei Hospital provides diagnostic and antibodies tests:

Antibody Tests – Serological IgG Anti Spike Test

The Anti Spike test IgG serological test is specific for people who have been vaccinated or who have already contracted SARS-CoV-2 infection and want to check their immune response.

This test IgG Anti-Spike is carried out with a quick blood draw to measure the amount of antibodies, acting directly against the SARS-CoV-2 Spike protein, responsible for the entry of  the infection into the target cells.

Antibody Tests – Serological IgG – IgM

Serological tests provide useful information for the identification of direct SARS-CoV-2 antibodies. The search for antibodies for detention of SARS-CoV-2 in the blood, gives us information on the viral infection and shows the immune system’s reaction.
More specifically, it allows to check the presence of immunoglobulins and thanks to that it is also possible to reconstruct the “virus’ history” discovering how long it has been present in the body. A quick blood draw is enough to get the result.

Molecular Tests

Molecular swab is the Gold Standard for the diagnosis of SARS-CoV-2. It is performed from a nasopharyngeal swab and detects the presence of the SARS-CoV-2 virus through molecular analysis.

Antigen Tests

The Rapid Antigen Test is a screening test that identifies antigens of the SARS-CoV-2 virus. It is suitable for individuals who needs immediate result, before proceeding with any further control and more accurate checks. In case of positivity it is necessary to proceed with the molecular swab.

Salivary Tests

Saliva collection can contribute to the timely identification of infectious individuals and has a number of advantages: saliva is easy to collect, the method is non-invasive (ideal for children and workers undergoing frequent testing), decreased risk of exposure of the health workers. 30 minutes before the test, you must not assimilate solid and liquid foods with the exception of water and you must not smoke.
